OCS proponents dominate hearing

RDC members are to be highly commended for an outstanding turnout at the OCS hearing in Anchorage February 25. More than 100 packed the hearing room at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement to express their opinion on whether new offshore oil and gas lease sales should be held off Alaska’s coast in the 2012-2017 time frame. Nearly 50 testified in support of leasing while six were opposed. At left, RDC President Tom Maloney joins pro-drilling “wildlife” at the hearing.
