Support of HB110 - Bruce Harland

March 24th Via email

Representative Stoltze:

It is critical to the future of the State that we improve the investment climate for oil and Gas development. We will not be able to maintain the pace of investment in infrastructure in the State without the oil royalties that we have come to rely on. The State of Alaska needs to continue to develop roads and facilities to open the State up for future development opportunities to diversify our economy but the key to that happening is to continue to earn oil royalties. With the current tax system in place we have seen a dramatic decline in the amount of exploration and development work done in the State. Without this development the pipeline will literally starve for lack of oil. With the pipeline gone any hope of future development of the vast reserves in the outer continental shelf will be lost.

A change in the tax structure now will have a short term effect on current revenues. What I fear for Alaska and my children’s future is going back to the economy we had prior to oil and the lack of career opportunities for future Alaskan’s in Alaska.

Thank you;

Bruce Harland
