Oil & Gas

Outer Continental Shelf Testimony April 14, 2009

Peter J. Stokes

I was raised in Alaska and have an engineering degree from UAF.

I have worked in the industry for 30 + years and am among those that work and benefit directly and indirectly from a robust oil and gas industry.

The fields on the NS are under decline and additional exploration and development is required to maintain flow through the TAPS pipeline. Absent additional development, TAPS could reach a minimum throughput of 150-200,000 BO in less than 20 years.

The OCS is critical to not only keeping the oil pipeline in business, but also for finding additional reserves to justify spending 30-40 Billion $ on the gas line.

I support OCS development for continued additional jobs for my kids and grandkids and to continue to develop America’s own oil and gas resources while we transition to other forms of energy.
